Ray Bower
Ray attended college as a mature student from 1985 - 1988 and graduated with a 2:1 BA (Hons) in Social Science.
Ray chose a career in higher education working as a lecturer and researcher and his teaching included Sociology (general sociology and specific subjects such as Race and Ethnicity, Sex and Gender, Women’s Studies, Equal Opportunities Policy and Practice, Management and Organizational Studies, Employment Studies and Employment Law, and Research Methods and Applications). His research included Planning Appeals and Residential Development, Quality and Satisfaction, Education, Training and Employment, Equality and Exclusion/Inclusion, Health, and Crime. In 1997 Ray attained his Master of Education from Nottingham University studying part-time while working at Doncaster College.
In 1998 Ray decided to leave higher education to move into training and development, seeking a more practical application of his skills than the increasingly theoretical work he was engaging with. Experience with a large disability organization as an Employment Placement and Training Officer, and brief contract with a Training and Enterprise Council as a Training and Employment Adviser provided him the experience and motivation to accelrate himself in the field of training and development.
His services include training and facilitation across a range of subject areas, designing and writing bespoke training courses/workshops/seminars, management and organizational development and change, all aspects of business, employment, educational and social research, and writing educational materials; Ray specializes in issues of equality and diversity.
